Professor Simone Cenci, M.D., geriatrician and gerontologist, is Head of the Research Unit of Age-related Diseases and Deputy Director of the Division of Genetics and Cell Biology at IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital and Associate Professor of Molecular Biology at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milano. He earned his MD degree in 1995 and specialized in Geriatrics and Gerontology in 2000 at the University of Perugia and served as research associate from 1998 to 2003 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University in St. Louis, MO, USA, where he identified novel immune mechanisms of age-related bone loss. In 2003 he moved to the San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milano to investigate the differentiation, function, and tumors of plasma cells, professional antibody producers.
