Giulio Bernardi

Giulio Bernardi is a researcher in Cognitive Neuroscience at the IMT School for Advanced Studies in Lucca. A medical doctor, he earned his doctorate in Neuroscience at the University of Pisa and has worked at research centers in the United States and Switzerland. His current research activity focuses on the study of the reciprocal interactions between wakefulness and sleep, investigating in particular how sleep is affected and, in turn, influences, cognitive efficiency, learning, memory and emotional regulation. In 2020 he obtained an ERC Starting Grant, European funding for young researchers, with the aim of exploring new methods for the non-invasive modulation of sleep and dreams.
