Sergio Canavero

Sergio Canavero is an honorary professor at Harbin Medical University, Harbin, People’s Republic of China. A functional neurosurgeon, since the age of 16 he has been working on the possibility of brain and head transplantation, a project he first announced in 2013. He was on the coverpage of February 28, 2015 issue of New Scientist. Professor Canavero is the inventor of surgical cortical stimulation for the rehabilitation of stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and coma. He has discovered the pathophysiological basis of central pain syndromes, for which he is chief consultant of NORD – North American Organization for Rare Disorders. The Austrian magazine OOOM included him among the 100 most “inspiring” people of 2017. He has published more than 120 articles and several books. See CV complete.
