Specialist in Neurology and Psychiatry, since 2005 he has been Chief Emeritus Of Neurology of the Niguarda Ca’ Granda Hospital in Milan and Scientific Director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Center of Excellence, “Briolini” Hospital, Gazzaniga (BG). Adjunct Professor at the School of Specialization in Neurology of the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University of Milan. Defanti has carried out clinical research, for which he authored several papers regarding neurology, with special reference to epilepsy, brain death, cerebrovascular diseases and neurovirology. He established two non-profit associations, AGC-Onlus (Gilberto Cominetta Association for Palliative Care in Neurology) and the CARDEA-Onlus Association, the Italian Forum for End-of-Life Care.
