Graduated summa cum laude in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Cagliari, he was a professor in Toxicology and Pharmacology at the same university. He was co-founder and secretary of the International BasalGanglia Society and President of the EBPS (European Behavioural Pharmacology Society), the FENS (Federation of European NeuroscienceSocietes), the Western European Ctte and the IBRO (International Brain Research Organization) and SINS (Italian Society of Neuroscience).
