A medical doctor, and neurologist, Gianvito directs the Division of Neuroscience at the IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital in Milan. Former president of the Italian Association of Neuroimmunology (AINI), he is currently president of the International Society of Neuroimmunology (ISNI). He is the founder and the Scientific Coordinator of the European School of Neuroimmunology (ESNI) (19999. He is a member of numerous national and international scientific societies and associations, he has received awards for his research activity, including the Rita Levi-Montalcini Prize. Since the beginning of his career, Gianvito Martino’s medical and neuroscientific interests have focused on the study of the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying the various inflammatory neurological diseases affecting the central nervous system, as a prerequisite for the development of innovative therapies for the treatment of such diseases.
