Luigi Scoppola

Psychiatrist, lecturer in Gerontology at the University of Rome, for many years he has been studying psychosomatic problems from a psychoanalytic perspective. He has written numerous papers on the clinic of mental phenomena related to the presymbolic activity of the mind and on identity and psychosomatic problems. He is the author of various publications and books. In 1980 he founded and directed the first psychoanalytically oriented Psychosomatic Medicine Hospital in Rome at the S. Giacomo Hospital and held courses in Psychosomatic Medicine for the specialization program in Psychiatry at the University of Perugia, the Catholic University of Rome and the University of Tor Vergata. In 1980 he was President, Founder and Teacher of the Italian Society of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy where he holds the course of Psychopathology of Perversions and Psychosomatosis of the School of Specialization in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, recognized by the Ministry of Education, University and Research – MIUR.
