Pietro Calissano

Graduated in Medicine in Genoa, during his career he worked with Nobel Laureate Prof. Rita Levi Montalcini until her death. Calissano has conducted his research in Rome and for long periods in numerous universities including Washington University, UCLA, Harvard Medical School, Cambridge University, Weitzman Institute in Israel. He headed the Institute of Neurobiology and Molecular Medicine of the CNR and was Full Professor of Neurophysiology at the University of Tor Vergata in Rome. He has been a member of the Scientific Council of the Istituto dell’Enciclopedia Treccani, where he has edited or directed several scientific works in the biomedical field. He is a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization and of the Accademia delle Scienze detta dei Quaranta and has won several scientific prizes including the Feltrinelli Prize and the Neurberg Prize. He is currently President of the European Brain Research Institute (EBRI) founded by Rita Levi Montalcini. See CV complete.
