Graduated in Medicine and Surgery, he is currently Emeritus Professor of Immunology at Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna (UNIBO). Author of over 800 publications in international journals, he ranks 21st in the VIA Academy’s list of Top Italian Scientists in Italy and abroad for Biomedical Sciences. He studies the aging and longevity (centenarians) of blood and immune system (liver, brain, gut microbiota) using “omics” technologies (genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, metagenomics, etc., which allow the production of high-dimensional data) and artificial intelligence methodologies.
